Thanks to a new wellness program, it just got easier for the staff and residents of Legacy Retirement Communities to keep their New Year’s Resolutions.

Legacy launched a wellness program this summer for its 400 employees that encouraged healthy eating and getting active, with awards presented to staff members who were successful in embracing a new lifestyle.

Many of the staff were enthusiastic about the program and enjoyed tremendous success.  Staff members from different departments were “Top Achievers” including Brandy Whitaker in Marketing, Travis Steiff in Dining Services, Diane Stutzman in Housekeeping, and Randy Reid in Dining Services. These staff members each made tremendous strides in losing weight, eating more healthfully, and getting active.

Known as “Fit For Your Future, the program was such a big hit that Legacy is rolling it out to residents at all three communities in Lincoln.  Katie Johnson – the new Wellness Director for Legacy – has big plans for the expanded program. “For residents, we will be offering more group exercise classes, engaging in some friendly competitions, and generally just having a great time being healthy and active,” says Johnson.

Nebraska’s First Lady, Sally Ganem will be at The Legacy!  The First Lady will be receiving the Honor Mother Award from the Nebraska Chapter of the American Mother's Association.  A reception will be held at 3 p.m. Jan. 24 at The Legacy, 5600 Pioneers Blvd., in Lincoln.
